1929 Indian Head Quarter Eagle

The 1929 is the final Indian Head Quarter Eagle. It is also one of the more peculiar issues of this type. It is readily available in the lower Uncirculated grades and not that hard to locate in Mint State-64. But in Mint State-65 it is rare and underrated with far fewer known in this grade than any other date from the 1920’s.
Most 1929 Indian Head Quarter Eagles show a good overall strike with good detail noted at the obverse and reverse centers. There are some that have minor weakness at the borders due to die buckling.
1929 Quarter Eagles: Surface Marks and Luster Characteristics
The surfaces nearly always show clusters of small marks. This is one reason why it is so difficult to find gem 1929 Quarter Eagles. A number display mint-made spots on the surfaces. These do not affect the grade or value unless they are extensive or placed in prime focal points.
The 1929 Quarter Eagle shows very good luster with a deep, frosty texture seen on original, high grade coins.
