1914 Indian Eagle: Rarest Proof & Scarce High-Grade Mint State Coin
There were a mere 50 Proofs minted in 1914 and this is the rarest Proof in the series. There are, at most, twenty or so examples known with most of these in the PR64 to PR66 range. A few superb Gems are known and these are very rare.
The 1914 Indian Head Eagle is an undervalued issue which is much scarcer than generally believed. It can be found in grades up to and including MS63 without much of an effort but it becomes scarce in MS64 and it is rare in MS65. There are eighteen coins known in MS66 to MS67 grades and these are seldom made available to collectors.
