1903-S Double Eagle – Frosty Luster and High-Grade Survivors
The luster is very frosty; a few are semi-proof-like or even fully proof-like. The coloration ranges from bright orange-gold to a deeper rose hue. The level of eye appeal is above average. It is fairly easy to locate a 1903-S double eagle that is sharp, lustrous and attractive.
Many 1903-S double eagles have been found in Europe in the last few decades, and this date is relatively common in grades up to and including MS62. There are about 760 known in MS64 and 43 known in MS65. NGC has graded two in MS66.
