The 1903-S is a relatively common late date San Francisco double eagle. It is an issue which seems to have seen little circulation and it has a high percentage of its known survivors in mint-state.

I like that this date has a nice rarity factor of 50 in MS63.

These are among the best struck San Francisco double eagles. Most are very sharp at the centers with full details on the hair and feathers. The stars and denticles are well impressed as well. The surfaces are often heavily abraded although there are some 1903-S double eagles which have reasonably few marks.
