Small groups of AU58 to MS62 1880-S double eagles are still found from time to time in Europe. These tend to be readily absorbed into the marketplace, and due to poor handling it is unlikely that any very large groups of nicer quality coins are known.

This date is common in all circulated grades and not that easy to find in MS60 to MS61. It is scarce in properly graded MS62 and quite rare in MS63. There are about eight known in MS64 and at least two better gems, including an MS66 graded by NGC.
