Luster, Coloration, and Rarity of the 1908-D No Motto Eagle
Luster is well below average for the issue and lacks the vibrancy that many other dates in the series possess. An occasional piece can be obtained with an uncommon presence of brightness and flash. Such coins are considered very desirable by specialists in the series.
Natural coloration is most often a lifeless yellow-gold but some noteworthy examples display rich reddish tinges.
