1890-S Double Eagle: Common in Circulation, Rare in Gem Grades

The 1890-S is common in all circulated grades, and it is easy to locate in uncirculated grades up to and including MS62. It is scarce in MS63 but becomes quite rare in properly graded MS64. Only three have been graded in MS66 all by PCGS. Many of the finest known examples came from the Saddle Ridge Hoard.
