The 1881-S Double Eagle: Circulated and Mint State Availability

The 1881-S is an issue that appears to have seen limited circulation and not often seen in grades below AU55. It is sometimes available in MS60 and even in MS61, but it is scarce in properly graded MS62. The 1881-S double eagle is very rare in MS63 and only about four are known graded by PCGS and NGC in MS64.
