1879-O Double Eagle: Scarcity and Grade Rarity

The 1879-O is a scarce and desirable coin in all grades. Most are well-worn with typical examples grading very fine to extremely fine. In the lower about uncirculated grades, this issue is quite rare and very rare in AU55 and above. Mint-state pieces are extremely rare, and these are among the most desirable Type Three double eagles of any date or mint.
